ANTIOXIDANT
MASTERBATCH
'KONSPEC' Antioxidant master batches are marketed under the brand
name 'AOKON'.
All the Polymeric materials undergoes Thermal degradation when they
are processing at Elevated Temperature, presence of atmospheric oxygen.
Degradation of polymers resulted in changes in colour, detrimetal
effects on the Physico Mechanical Properties as well as long term
ageing. Polymers used in long term aging applications such as Automotive
Components, Furniture, Electronic Goods appliances parts etc. Outdoor
exposure needs to be protected while processing of Polymers. Antioxidants
are added to the Polymers to protect them against thermal degradation
process and is becoming increasing very essential in almost all the
applications. Antioxidants are of two types - Primary Antioxidants
and Secondary antioxidants.
Primary Antioxidants:
These are free radical scavenger and prevent degradation by destroying
free radicals generated during degradation of Polymers. Examples of
primary antioxidants are hindered Phrnois, secondary are amines.
Secondary antioxidant: These antioxidants decompose the hydeogeroxide
formed during reaction of primary antioxidant with free radicals and
hence are used synergically with primary antioxidants. Examples of
Secondary Antioxidants are: Phosphates, Sulphites, Thioesters.
KONSPEC offers Antioxidant Masterbatches under the name "AOKON" to
suit particular use. The selection of Antioxidant are carefully done
considering all the critical aspects.

MELT
STABILISATION OF POLYPROPYLENE
Polypropylene is Sensitive to Oxidative degradation due to the teritiary
hydrogens in its structure. Chain scission is the primary result of
the oxidative degradation mechanism producing lower molecular weight
resin with increase in melt index and lower physical properties.
MELT
STABILISATION OF CONTROLLED RHEOLOGY ( CR ) PP
Controlled Rheology (CR) is the term used to indicate that the PP
has been subjected to post polymerisation compounding process which
uses a peroxide cracking agent to modily the molecular weight distribution.
Increase the melt flow and enhance PP resin properties for applications
such as fibre spinning and injection moulding. To have an effective
control on the melt stabilisation of controlled rheology PP the selection
of antioxidant is a very important criteria to prevent further increase
in Melt Flow due to the peroxide cracking agent.
MELT
STABILISATION OF HDPE / LLDPE
In contrast to PP the melt index of HDPE/ LLDPE decreases during multiple
extrusion. Studies reflecting its normal cross linking mode of degradation.
The excellent melt stabilisation activity of Antioxidant is obtained
by careful selection of the Antioxidant. Antioxidant should also provided
good control on the colour that is yellow index of the Polymer during
multiple passes.
POLYPROPYLENE
FIBRES
The Polypropylene fibres tends to undergo gas yellowing due to the
reactivity of nitrogen oxide generated by combustion of natural gases.
Also the extraction of the additives of the fibres by lubricant components
in the spin finish etc.
KONSPEC offers wide range of the AOKON
Masterbatches for all the above mentioned applications. 'KONSPEC'
AOKON Master Batches are formulated
seperately for specific applications of polyolefins, styrenics, etc.,
with different loadings of active ingredients. |
